Agnes water has a great pub with excellent food and plenty of shopping including local supermarkets and cafes. An excellent oceanfront caravan park caters for all the campervan and motorhome travelers who are touring around Australia and call into the region for a few days of sight seeing. Agnes Water is surrounded by beautiful National Parks and the local scenery and wildlife is truly spectacular. An excellent nine hole golf course provides another great local holiday attraction. The beach itself is superb and when the wind blows from the south east for a few days an excellent surf develops.
The town of 1770 has an unusual name but is a place of sheer beauty. This was the first place that Captain James Cook landed in Queensland in the year 1770 during his epic voyage of discovery. He and his crew came ashore here to look for food and water before continuing northward on his voyage. Today 1770 is a beautiful holiday village which is situated on a superb estuary. There is excellent holiday accommodation available for those who want to stay for a while. The town has a tavern and a local marina which is the departure point for a number of fishing charters and day tours. An amphibious Larc takes tourists on a day tour through the National Park to the north and on to the Bustard Head lighthouse. Lady Musgrave Island is a true coral cay which lies on the Capricorn section of the Great Barrier Reef directly seaward of 1770. A fast catamaran service takes day tours to the island, departing daily. If you only have time for one trip to the reef during your Australian holiday, don't be afraid to make it this one, as Lady Musgrave Island lagoon is one of the most pristine and beautiful places you can visit on the reef.
If you are touring along the Australian coastline during your Australian holiday make sure you drive into Agnes Water and 1770 as part of you stay.
