Broken Hill is located on the Barrier Range in the far west of NSW, just 48 km east of the South Australian border. The town, known as the "Silver City" because of its mining heritage, has a rich and unique frontier heritage and much more. Broken Hill Mining Outback

Drive out to the start of the Mundi Mundi Plain which is north-west of the town and marvel at the fact that you are in New South Wales and the desert around you doesn't fundamentally change until you reach the coast of Western Australia. Broken Hill is literally an oasis in the desert, a place of green parks and gardens. It can get very hot in summer but it is rare for the daily maximum to exceed 38°C for more than 8 or 9 days a year.

This dynamic and culturally rich outback city has become a mecca for artists with word famous names such as Pro Hart and Jack Absalom who now sit alongside an ever growing list of well established painters who made this area their home. The Outback artists have created a thriving Art Centre which offers a diverse range of styles subjects and price tags to suit all tastes and while you are in town you must Walk the Living Desert Art Trail and the Heritage Art Trail.

A world class Golf Course is at your feet at the Broken Hill Golf and Country Club where there is 18 holes to play and a grand club house to retire to at the end of a great game. There is just so much to see and do in Broken Hill such as the Geo Centre, the School of Air, the Royal Flying Doctor Service, Kinchega National Park, Menindee Lakes, the Darling River and plenty of art galleries. And not only can you look forward to a list of fantastic attractions but Broken Hill also plays host to a number of events and festivals throughout the year.
