Burleigh Heads lies on the southern Gold Coast in south east Queensland and is one of Australia's most popular beachside holiday destinations. Many Australian families come back to Burleigh Heads every year to holiday on the wonderful beach here and enjoy their annual holidays. Burleigh Heads is one of the countries most popular surfing destinations and the break here is renowned as an icon of the Australian surfing scene. There are plenty of other Gold Coast attractions that are close to Burleigh Heads that you will want to see while you are in the area. The world famous Currumbin Bird sanctuary is only a short distance to the south. This exhibit has a fantastic display of Australian birds and wildlife and daily bird feeding sessions are quite spectacular. The kids will love feeding the thousands of lorikeets and parrots that cluster here. The national parks around Mt Warning to the south and the Gold Coast hinterland regions around Canungra and the O'Riellys guest house regions have spectacular rain forests and waterfalls to visit. Coolangatta and the Tweed River regions are also fantastic places to visit while you are having a Burleigh Heads holiday.

The Gold Coast is world famous for its theme parks and they are within easy reach. Shuttle bus services are available from the Gold Coast to take the family for a day at Dreamworld, Movieworld or Seaworld and experience the fabulous thrill rides and wildlife displays that they have. An Australian holiday should always include a few days spent in a great beachside resort like Burleigh Heads.
