Dubbo is best known for its world famous Western Plains Zoo, but the real surprise is that there are other very successful and unique tourist attractions that are open to the public and available all year round. Such as the Warrumbungle National Park which is just two hour north west of Dubbo or maybe even a day trip out to the famous wine growing township of Mudgee or the historical Gulgong is what you are looking for. The Wellington Caves are always a must do when you are in Dubbo which are only 30 minutes out of the city and it is here that you can see a real phosphate mine at work.
