If ever there was a quiet coastal tourist town with lots to offer for a great holiday, that town would be Mission Beach. Located in far North Queensland about one and a half hours drive south of Cairns, Mission Beach has the infrastructure and appeal to give you a fantastic holiday. The Beach itself is magnificent with dense rainforest coming right to the shore line and just offshore is an archipelago of small islands with swaying coconut trees to give it just the right atmosphere. Along the beachfront is a number of excellent resorts, some with the best tropical gardens imaginable and also plenty of holiday homes and caravan parks to accommodate the army of campervans and motor homes that congregate here each night as touring european's, on their way around Australia, gather for their evening meal.
The jetty at Clump Point is the departure point for cruises to the Great Barrier Reef which lies just offshore and the ferry to take guests to Dunk Island and Bedarra Island also leaves from here. There are also fishing trips and the like around the local reefs. Mission Beach is known for its rainforests and spectacular scenery and wildlife. Here you can see a cassowary walking along the footpath. Yes it does happen. Not far away are other attractions like the riding the rapids in the Tully River or the fantastic gardens and construction at Paronella Park. Jump the beach is the name of the local parachute company and that is exactly what they do. Join in for the adrenaline trip of a lifetime.
Mission Beach also has its share of great restaurants and cafés and many are located right on the beachfront. The evening atmosphere is fantastic with the tropical atmosphere and the moon shining across an island filled sea. This is the stuff of a real memory filled holiday.
Your holiday will cost you less now the Australian dollar is down so why not spend that little bit more and have a few days break at beautiful Mission Beach accommodation.
