As Queenstown used to be a mining town until 1969, you can join one of the tours that either go above or below the ground which are all really interesting. There are wonderful lookouts to make your way to especially Spion Kop Lookout where you will have your breath taken away by the captivating views and for something a little different why join take a chairlift ride over the region. Just out of town is Mount Jukes where you can witness some of Tasmania's most stunning scenery or even play a round of golf on the nine hole golf course.

You can pack a picnic and head for Lake Burbury where there is fishing, boating and plenty of open water for fun filled water sports. There are scenic walks that people of all fitness levels can embark upon and many different and fascinating attractions to visit such as the ABT Railway, the mining museum in Zeehan which is just a short drive away or why not pack up the car for the day and head to Strahan which is a 45 minute drive where you can go jet boating out on the Harbour and take a river cruise along the Gordon River. There are scenic flights and other activities to do but one thing is for sure, do not miss the nearby Montezuma Falls where you can easily spend the entire day swimming and having fun. You could also visit Queenstowns namesake in New Zealand.

For lovers of food and wine you will love Tasmania as there are beautiful restaurants throughout the region and many award winning wineries to walk through and sample some local produced wines. The town is surrounded by dramatic scenery and so much to see and do both indoors and out, that a holiday here is just what you have been waiting for.
