No Australian holiday can be complete if you have not been to Surfers Paradise. Surfers is an icon on the Australian holiday scene and it is centrally located on the Gold Coast in south east Queensland. It lies between Main Beach and Broadbeach and is one of the most famous surfing beaches on Australia’s east coast. Surfers Paradise and Caville Avenue, which lies at its center, is the heart of the Gold Coasts fabulous accommodation industry with dozens of high rise resorts lining the esplanade on the beach front and the surrounding streets. There are hundreds of of places to choose from includingholiday apartments in the region between the beach and the Gold Coast highway that are only walking distance from all the action of the commercial, restaurant and shopping precinct and the great beachside holiday activities. There are hotels at all levels and standards, holiday resorts and apartments and backpacker hostels and the like all vying for your business. There is fantastic night life and lots of other interesting attractions to help you entertain the family.
Surfers Paradise beach is about as good as it gets. There is plenty of fine white powdery sand and consistent surf pounding the beachfront. Skimpy bikinis are everywhere and the strong bronzed bodies of the Australian lifeguards and surfers are always on display. When there is a surf carnival here it is a must see activity to watch the contestants in the spectacular surf boat races and iron man events. The beach is always patrolled during the day by qualified life guards so it is a safe place to swim and surf. Swimming at night is definitely not recommended and there have been several tragedies with tourists being lost when doing this. The Caville Avenue Mall is right on the beachfront and is a tourism hub. There is plenty of shopping for souvenirs available here as well as lots of footpath cafes and diners. The atmosphere is always a happy holiday one and generally, thousands of tourists gather in this region every day to share in the holiday ambience.
If you are holidaying in Surfers Paradise accommodation there is lots of other things to see and do. The theme parks here are world famous and shuttle bus services are available every day to take you to the one of your choice. Seaworld is the closest, being situated on the nearby Southport Spit. Dreamworld, Movie World and Wet n Wild waterpark are all located at Coomera and all will need at least a day each to experience all of the attractions that they have on offer. The Southport Broadwater is also close by and it offers great day cruises to go fishing or see the passing whales or have dinner on a floating restaurant.
