Sailing in the Whitsundays is a really popular past time and many tourists come to the Whitsundays region specifically to join a charter yacht for a few days or to charter their own bare boat for one of the worlds most relaxing holidays. There are literally hundreds of yachts available for charter here and the choice is fantastic. There are ocean racing maxi yachts, square riggers, bare boats, catamarans, schooners and many more for you to choose from and you can also choose a day trip or set sail for an extended trip to the islands of the Whitsunday Passage or even out to the Great Barrier Reef itself.

Tens of thousands of backpackers flock to the Whitsundays every year to experience a few days relaxing, snorkeling or diving from one of these vessels. There are several companies that cater for this part of the market and the options for the range of vessels and length of trip are really wide. The day sailing market is also really well catered for with plenty of cruises on offer to places like Blue Pearl Bay on Hayman Island or the magnificent Whitehaven Beach on Whitsunday Island.

Many sailors return for a Whitsundays sailing charter every year and charter one of the many bare boats that are available here. The Whitsunday passage region has 74 islands, plus hundreds of beaches, bays and headlands to explore and the sub tropical climate make this one of the worlds most visited sailing paradises. Bare Boats are available from either Airlie Beach or Shute Harbour on the mainland or from the marina at Hamilton Island. There are many different styles of boats to choose from so you will be able to find one that suits your requirements. Many people have sailing experience but if you haven't guidance or a paid skipper are available until you are confident to handle the boat yourself.

The Whitsundays are easy to get to. You can fly in direct to Hamilton Island and walk to the Marina which is located only a few meters from the terminal building or you can fly to the Whitsunday airport at Proserpine and take a shuttle bus service to Airlie beach or Shute Harbour to pick up your vessel. If you are driving, security parking is available by organization with your booking agent.
